Panto Rides

Each year a local theatrical group, the Wight Strollers stage a pantomine during the February School half term holiday, and a group from IOW Summer Camp get together with the Joe Ellis Trust and treat 4-5 families who could really benefit from a family day out.

With help from our event sponsors Wightlink Isle of Wight Ferries we get a fleet of 5-7 suitable cars together, collect the families from their homes, take them along to the Fighting Cocks pub in Arreton for lunch, all courtesy of owners Sam and Donna Shaw, the families are then entertained by local magician Huxley , and then driven in convoy to the
Medina Theatre in Newport where we have front row seats reserved for our special guests, and at the end of the day the families are taken home hoping that they have all enjoyed a well earned break.

I think the summer camp drivers and marshalls enjoy the panto just as much as the children to be honest! Its a simple thing to do and is a
very rewarding and humbling experience, there is never a shortage of
people wishing to help out.
